FAQ

LASHES

What are eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions should not be confused with the self-stick false eyelashes of yesteryear or individual clusters of lashes knotted together that are a single-event accessory. Eyelash extensions are semi-permanent, synthetic extensions that are attached one by one onto the natural lash (not the skin) by using a specially formulated glue that last 4-6 weeks.

Can I still wear eye makeup?

Yes, but you won’t need mascara and you may even find you won’t need eyeliner. You can still use eyeliner and eye shadows as usual, but remember to remove your make-up with a water based make-up remover.

Why should I get eyelash extensions?

  • It will cut your beauty routine time down in the mornings.
  • No running or streaking of mascara.
  • Lasts from 3-6 weeks with proper maintenance.
  • It’s a non-invasive procedure and pain free.
  • Safe in showers, swimming pools and saunas.
  • Weightless and natural looking.
  • Eyelashes will appear longer, fuller and darker.
  • Great for people who wear contact lenses.
  • Fantastic for individuals who can not or do not like to wear mascara.

How do I look after my eyelash extensions?

  • For the first 2 hours avoid getting the lashes wet.
  • Do not use a steam room or sauna for the first 24 hours.
  • Resist the temptation to touch or pull at your new lashes as this will pull out your own natural lashes.
  • Avoid getting them caught on clothes and towels.
  • When drying your face, apply a gentle pressure to your closed eyes and allow the extensions to dry naturally.
  • Do not perm or curl the extensions.
  • Avoid wearing mascara as this will shorten the life span of your extensions.
  • Use water based make-up removers.
  • Try and sleep on your back to avoid crushing your extensions.

Do eyelash extensions make my own lashes fall out?

Nope, that is just a myth. Eyelashes have a cycle and are constantly being replaced like your hair. If you pull on an extension lash and pull out your natural lash there will be no new lash ready to grow to take its place and you will have to wait 6-8 weeks for that lash to grow.

How are the eyelash extensions applied?

A single natural eyelash is isolated and a synthetic lash is glued to the top of your own natural eyelash approximately 1mm from the eyelid so neither the glue or the synthetic lash come into contact with the skin.

How long does the application take?

The procedure will take approximately 1 hour for a full set, approximately 30-45 minutes for a half set and 30 min-1 hour for an in-fill.

What are fills, why do I need them and how often do I need them?

Fills are when the natural eyelash has fallen out (due to the eyelash cycle) and there has been an extension lash applied to it. You will require in-fills every 3-6 weeks if you would like to achieve a full fresh set of lashes.

BROW INK

What is Microblading Brow Ink?

Microblading is a semi-permanent cosmetic make-up done where small amounts of pigments are injected into the superficial layer of the skin using a sterile pen and blade.

What’s the process like?

Microblading is a two-step process, consisting of an initial procedure and a follow up 4-6 weeks after the procedure. Following the before photo being taken, we can determine the pigment colour that best suits you. Shortly after a topical anesthetic will be applied to numb the area where we then inject the ink. During the time of healing, it is normal to experience some pigment loss, which is why there is a second procedure, 4-6 weeks following the initial procedure.

What can’t I do after the procedure?

You are advised to keep the skin clean and dry. We ask our clients to avoid swimming, sweating or getting the area wet. In addition, clients should avoid tanning or prolonged sun exposure; do not pick or peel at the brow area. Refrain from washing your face and hair until they are healed.

How long does it last?

It can last as long as it’s maintained. Untouched, the ink will last 1-3 years.

How long does it take?

The appointment can take approximately 2 hours this includes the consultation and brow mapping.

How often do I need a touch up?

Depending on your skin you may consider getting a small touch up in areas that are beginning to fade. We recommend touch ups every 6 months to a year.

Does it hurt?

You may feel some discomfort in the beginning; however, there is a topical anesthetic that is used to numb the area. Some say that the feeling is similar to tweezing or threading.

How long does it take to heal?

Depending on the individual’s skin it can take between 7-10 days to completely heal.

What disqualifies me as a potential client for microblading?

Anyone with a history of heart disease, seizure, diabetes, skin disorder, infection, blood disorder, pregnant or nursing are not eligible for this service.
